This was a re-engineered derivative of the original AME-049. It was a plain bearing engine using AAN (aluminium, aluminium, nickel) cylinder technology. A special button plug replaced the conventional plug used by the original AME-049. There was also a minor revision to the crank case casting that strengthened the front end.
These engines were light and are competitive in 1/2A, especially on light models.
October 2009: Norvel appear to be out of business. Their website is now a link farm operated by Tucows. Engines and parts are no longer stocked by SIG.
